Dear Creative Soul,

Every New Year, I crave clarity and a creative refresh. The New Year is a potent time; a hopeful time. A time to dream big, and to tenderly integrate the learnings and yearnings of the past year. In the past few years, I have grown increasingly QUIET on New Year’s, taking time to paint, collage, write, and reflect.  I’ve developed a ritual to help shepherd myself through this time of transition, and to set the stage for a powerful year. Last year, I shared this process in the form of an art retreat on New Year’s Day. It was so luxurious and inspiring! This year, I would love to share this process with you so you can begin your new year from a powerful, clear, creative place.

Enter the New Year’s Day Creative Re-TREAT. We will gather and create, write and share and connect, and launch ourselves into the New Year from a powerful place. I’m going to make this a luxurious experience, with snacks and lunch and all the details handled, so that you can come, immerse, and enjoy. Sound good? Read on for all the details, and the link to register is below!

Here’s how the retreat day will look:

In this retreat, I want to help you complete the past, acknowledge the present, and plant seeds of possibility for your year to come. In this lesson, you’ll make a richly layered painting spread, learn how to create gorgeous layers with collage and paint, and dive deep within with juicy writing prompts, to get your year off to a vibrant start. I love melding the emotional, imaginative, spiritual aspects of art, and dreaming, with the visual aspects of making that come to life on the page.

In the morning session, we will cozy up with hot beverages and do a visualization+writing process to chronicle our 2019. You will learn some journaling prompts that are helpful to completing your year, acknowledging the present, and then setting your intentions for the coming year. In celebrating, honoring, and sharing what we’ve learned, we will set ourselves up to complete the year: take the lessons, let the rest go, and move forward into what’s to come.

We will explore mixed-media techniques as we collage and paint and dance and expaaaaand our visions to call forth our deepest desires and cravings for the year to come. You will create a piece of art that brings your vision to life. No art experience required – this is totally supported process and you’ll have exactly what you need to create your 2020 guiding piece.

Catered lunch will be provided and your dietary needs will be thoughtfully met with delicious nourishment for all.

The final session will be a grounding and clarifying goal-setting session. This is where you’ll be supported to translate your creative vision into tangible actions. Bite-sized and absolutely achievable, we will set you up for success with plenty of support+awareness+forgiveness. This ain’t your average New Year’s resolution, instead it’s a complete and grounded plan for making your creative dreams come true in 2020. I am excited for you to have this piece of artwork as a reminder of the time you took to set your intentions at the beginning of this new chapter in your life.

You’ll come away with:

  • A sense of completeness about your year in 2019.

  • A big vision for your year in 2020

  • A piece of original art that reminds you of your vision. (No art experience required - all levels welcome)

  • Encouragement and a circle of creative colleagues to share in this process!

“This was fantastic and grounded me into both what has happened and what I want to create. Great space, fun to meet other creatives, and excellent food!” —Katherine
